How Geothermal Works

The temperature throughout the year will always vary no matter what climate you live in. For some climates that means hot summers that cool to freezing winters, and Hattiesburg is no exception. What many people don't understand is that the temperature below ground (regardless of climate or season) stays pretty consistent year round.

The ground is able to sustain a higher rate of temperature consistency because it absorbs 47% of the sun's energy (heat) as it impacts the Earth's surface. Our geothermal systems are able to tap into this free energy with an earth loop. This technology is then used to equip your home or office with central heating and cooling.

Geothermal Heating

In the heating cycle, a geothermal heat pump employs the earth loop system to extract the heat from the ground. With delivery through a classic duct system, the geothermal system draws heat from the loops and distributes it as warm air. Options are available to use that same heat energy to provide hot water heating and radiant floor heat.

Geothermal Cooling

During the cooling mode, cool, refreshing air is circulated throughout the house by doing the exact opposite as the heating process. Heat is not extracted, instead it is propelled into the ground. The warm heat is extracted from your home and moved back into the earth loop. Your hot water heating can be fueled by this procedure as well.
